Alexander Zverev missed his first quarterfinal at the US Open. Germany's best tennis player could still win the first set, then Diego Schwartzman turned on.



Alexander Zverev retired at the US Open in the second round. Germany's best tennis player lost to the Argentinian Diego Schwartzman 6: 3, 2: 6, 4: 6, 3: 6 and missed the first Grand Slam tournament of the season for the first time in the quarterfinals.

Zverev had to give up after 3:08 hours beaten. Thus no German tennis pros are represented at the US Open. Before Zverev also Julia Görges was eliminated in the second round.
