Lisbon - Sana
Portugal's center-back and Porto veteran Pepe have withdrawn from the squad for the Euro 2020 qualifier against Serbia and Lithuania, the Portuguese Football Federation (PFF) said.
"The 36-year-old Pepe is not qualified for the two games after a series of tests," the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) said, adding that Benfica's promising defending champion Ferro had the opportunity to make his first appearance in the national team to make up for Pepe's absence.
The European champions will host Serbia 2016 in Belgrade and Lithuania next Tuesday in Vilnius in Group B.
