France's national football team won 4-1 (2-0) against Albania in the European Championship qualifiers. Kingsley Coman (8th minute) and Olivier Giroud (27th) decided the game with their goals in the first half. Since the excitement of the evening had already taken place: Instead of the Albanian national anthem was played in Paris Stade de France before the match the anthem of Andorra.
The national team of the dwarf state was at the same time also active in the European Championship qualification, but in Turkey and not in Paris. There the breakdown caused fans and players of the Albanians for irritation. The players stopped after the hymns and did not stand up as usual in their half of the game. Sporting it was an annoying evening for the Albanians: Again Coman (68) and the substitute Jonathan Ikoné (85) increased for France, Antoine Griezmann had missed from the penalty spot before (35). Sokol Cikalleshi did better in the closing stages than the star from FC Barcelona: he converted a penalty from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to the final score.
In the Group H table, France defeated Iceland from the top of the table by winning. Albania are now six points behind a qualifying place after the defeat.
