Scene of the match: Serena Williams had plenty of time to prepare her shot after a high return from her final opponent Bianca Andreescu. Strangely enough, she delayed the ball in the swing and sent the ball home without pressure and lost the match to Andrescu's Winner. The American lost her nerves - and the game.
The result: Not only their nerves cost Williams at the end of the game. The 19-year-old Andreescu determined the rallies and won 6: 3, 7: 5. Read here the match report and here the minutes protocol.
#SheTheNorth: With the Toronto Raptors, this year for the first time a Canadian basketball team had won the NBA. During the final series against the Golden State Warriors the hashtag #WeTheNorth, translated: "We are the North", has been socializing on the social networks. Given the first Canadian Grand Slam champion, of all things in New York against the American tennis figurehead Williams, invented Canada's Twitter landscape without further ado the expression. "She is the north". The Raptors went even further on Twitter:
SHE THE CHAMP!

Big game hunter: Andreescu started for the first time in the main field of the US Open and climbed the throne directly. However, their victory against Williams is not really surprising. Andreescu has played eight matches against top ten players, eight won. All this year.
The last twitch: Before she had killed Williams, Andreescu needed patience. Already at the score of 5: 1 in the second set, she once struck for match win. It was the start of a catch-up game by Williams, who won ten of the following eleven points, including the match ball. A catch-up hunt that remained unfinished.

Serena Williams (37, left), Bianca Andreescu (19) - Fight of the Generations
Record holder on hold: Serena Williams is possibly the best female tennis player in history. Until the big hit but you still missing a Grand Slam title. The now 77-year-old Margaret Court still holds the sole record with 24 majors won. The tennis world has been waiting for Williams's record since winning the Australian Open in January 2017. After the tournament, she had taken a more than one-year maternity break and lost in finals at the US Open last year and Wimbledon this year.
Next Gen: While 37-year-old Williams picks up on the latest un-cracked records in the fall of her career, 19-year-old Andreescu's journey is just starting. She is the first born in the new millennium tennis professional who wins a Grand Slam.
