Kenya's Jeffrey Camorore broke the world marathon world record by 17 seconds.
The 26-year-old Camorro scored 58 minutes and one second in the half-day marathon in the Danish capital, breaking the previous 58 minutes and 18 seconds set by compatriot Abraham Keptum in Valencia last year, the IAAF said on its website.
"A record has aroused a lot of emotions for me, especially here in Copenhagen, where I won my first world title," Kamuror said after the win.
Kenyan Bernard Kipkorir finished second with 59 minutes and 16 seconds, while Ethiopian Brihanu and Ndimu came in third with six seconds behind.
