Spain won the basketball World Cup in China. Against the surprise finalists from Argentina, the team of coach Sergio Scariolo won 95:75 (43:31). For the country it is the second world title after the triumph at the finals in Japan in 2006.
Like at the tournament 13 years ago, this time NBA star Marc Gasol was one of the decisive players for the success. The now 34-year-old from the Toronto Raptors came to 14 points against Argentina, but was even more important in the build-up as a foothold and on the defensive. Best launcher in Spain was the NBA professional Ricky Rubio (Phoenix Suns) with 20 points. Gabriel Deck scored 24 points in the Argentines.

The USA and Serbia were the top favorites for the World Cup victory before the tournament started. Then came the quarter-finals - both countries retired surprisingly. For Germany was already in the preliminary round, but ended the tournament for the team conciliatory: In the final placement match against Canada won the DBB selection and thus secured the participation in the Olympic qualifier tournament.
Argentina were in the quarter-finals with victories against Serbia and drew in the semi-final against France in the final. The biggest basketball triumph of the country is the World Cup victory in 1950, Argentina 2004 also became Olympic champion.
