RIYADH - SANA: Syria's junior football team will kick off their AFC Asian Cup qualifying campaign with Saudi Arabia


Syria's junior football team will kick off its AFC Asian Cup 2020 qualifiers by meeting Saudi Arabia at 9:30 pm today in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, for Group D, which also includes Oman and Pakistan.

Coach Mohamed Aqeel said that our team is seeking to provide a positive performance and results in his matches in these qualifiers despite the difficulty of his group, which he described as iron, but that will not diminish our determination to grab the qualifying card, which he considered an initial goal that will build a lot in the future.

During the press conference of the coaches of the four teams in Group D, which was held in the city of Khobar, Saudi Arabia, Aqeel said that he and his assistant technical team have full confidence in the players of the team despite the difficulty of the schedule, which requires the team to play three games in five days.

The organizing committee of Group D matches held a coordination conference in the presence of representatives of the four teams during which they reviewed the tournament system in detail and clarified some organizational, logistical and medical matters, training dates for the four teams and determine the colors of the clothes for each team where our team will play its three games in full red.

Our team will play its second match against the Omani team on Friday at 6:30, and will conclude its matches in the qualifiers against Pakistan on Sunday at the same time.

Our team includes Talal Barakat as the manager of the national team, Argentine Juan Marcos Troia as technical supervisor, Mohamed Akil as coach, Hisham Kordoghli as assistant coach, Mohamed Beyrouthi as the goalkeeper, Abdul Wakeel Al Masri as manager, Mohsen Al Awad therapist, Anwar Al Bakr as media coordinator, Shadi Hussein in charge of the equipment and 23 players, Hassan Mahmoud and Mahmoud Al Naif.
