The French professional football league association LFP will suspend the Coupe de la Ligue for next season. This was announced by the LFP in a communication.

"This decision allows us to shorten the season's schedule, giving players more time to recover," the statement says.

The League Cup, in which the 40 clubs from the first two leagues and three clubs in the third division participate, is held annually since 1994. The winner qualifies directly for the Europa League. From next season, the place will be distributed over the championship.
