Eintracht Frankfurt has lost the opening game in the Europa League against Arsenal 0: 3 (0: 1). Joe Willock (38th minute), Bukayo Saka (85th) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (88th) met for the representative from the English Premier League. For the Eintracht it was the first home defeat at European level for 16 games. Frankfurt lost in the Uefa Cup 2006/2007 at home against US Palermo. Even then it was the first matchday in the group stage.

After three qualifying rounds against Vaduz, Tallinn and Strasbourg, the first match in the Europa League finals was on the agenda. And the fans of last year's semi-finalists showed once again their supportive side.

Without the wandering storm trio Ante Rebic / Sébastien Haller / Luka Jovic, but for the first time with access Bas Dost in the starting eleven it was the home side who gave away two good chances after just over half an hour. Filip Kostic's shot came from an acute angle to the outside net (18 minutes), and a little later it was again Kostic, whose finish Arsenal goalie Emiliano Martínez parried.

In the episode, however, it was the guests, who - supported by an unconcentrated Eintracht defense - always came into play better. The 19-year-old Emile Smith Rowe failed in Eintracht keeper Kevin Trapp in one-on-one, after the next counter hit the conclusion of Willock against the bottom of the bar and jumped from there into the goal.

Even after the break, the Frankfurt came back to good opportunities. Silva, who scored the free-kick in front of the England goal in the 61st minute but missed the goal, scored the best. At this time Eintracht had 18: 8 shots on goal. After 80 minutes Dominik Kohr was sent off again after another foul, Saka to 2: 0 (85) and Aubameyang (88) met to 3: 0, the game had run for the Frankfurt.
