TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's volleyball team won the 2019 Asian Cup for the third time in its history after a crushing 3-0 win over Australia in the final in Tehran on Saturday.
Fars news agency reported that Iran retaliated for losing in the first round against Australia and made an outstanding performance tied to win three rounds and the result of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-21 to be crowned Asian Volleyball Championship 2019.
The eight teams qualified for the quarter-finals of this tournament have qualified for the Olympic qualifiers, which will be held in China several months later to win the winner to the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Iran won the tournament twice in 2011 and 2013 and won runners-up twice and third place once.
