GENEVA (Reuters) - Spaniard Rafael Nadal pulled out of the Laver Cup in Geneva on Friday because of a swelling in his hand that deprives the public of a chance to watch Roger Federer in the doubles on the final day of the tournament.
"I had a great time at the Lever Cup and I am disappointed that I will not be able to play again today after I have a swelling in my hand and need to rest," Nadal said in a statement.
Nadal of Europe was expected to meet Nick Kirios of the world team in a solo showdown before the Spaniard cooperated with Federer against John Isner and Jack Sook in the doubles.
Europe are 7-5 ahead of the world team and the first team to win 13 points will be crowned champions with three points each.
