Super Bowl champion New England Patriots also clearly won the third game of the 100th season in the US Football League NFL on the debut of German fullback Jakob Johnson. Against the injured New York Jets, in which both the starting and the backup quarterback suffer from Sam Darnold (glandular fever) and Trevor Siemian (ankle injury) sick or injured, the Patriots won 30:14 - for the third time scored New England at least 30 points.
In the first game following the dismissal of scandal-wide receiver Antonio Brown (31), star quarterback Tom Brady led coach Bill Bellichik's side to victory with 30 of 42 successful passes for 306 yards of space. The 42-year-old was supported by a towering defensive that allowed Jets quarterback Luke Falk in his only second NFL game only twelve successful passes to his receiver for 98 yards.
The 24-year-old Johnson, who initially served in the Special Teams and then at the last minute in his position as a classic fullback, was hired by the International Pathway Program for Foreign Talents in April. The German did not make it to the roster cut in late August in the Patriots squad, but now got his first probation opportunity.
