World Athletics Championships: Ingebrigtsen brothers remain without a medal

The three Norwegian Ingebrigtsen brothers planned over 5000 meters the big coup, but in the end, the Ethiopians were too strong. Muktar Edris went to World Cup gold, the Norwegians went empty handed.

Defending champion Muktar Edris from Ethiopia has again won gold in the World Athletics Championships in Doha over 5000 m. The 25-year-old prevailed in a fast race in 12: 58.85 minutes ahead of his countryman Selemon Barega (12: 59.70). It was the first double victory over the twelve and a half stadium rounds in World Cup history and the first gold for Ethiopia in the competitions in Qatar.

Bronze went to the Canadian Mohammed Ahmed (13: 01,11). The three Norwegian Ingebrigtsen brothers went out empty, as the best came European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen in fifth place (13: 02,93).
