2019-10-03T17:08:16.917Z

At the Münsterland-Giro Pascal Ackermann missed a german success. However, the victory of Pascal Ackermann was overshadowed by a post-race scene when two riders clashed. Right in front of a camera crew.

Top sprinter Pascal Ackermann narrowly missed the victory at the Münsterland Giro. The 25-year-old had beaten after 200 kilometers from Emsdetten to Münster in the final sprint only the Colombian Alvaro Hodeg. Last year's winner Max Walscheid from Neuwied completed the strong German result in fifth, but was attacked by a competitor after the race.

Shortly before the finish, there was a mass crash after Walscheid and the Frenchman Florian Sénéchal had touched. Walscheid was not affected, but Senechal went to the ground, some other drivers could not avoid. After crossing the finish line, Sénéchal beat Walscheid in front of current TV cameras and had to be held back by his teammates.

"I do not know what was going on," said Walscheid in WDR, after the tempers calmed down again. He did not notice anything about the fall. The overall race was "extremely tough", "the weather has hit us all, it was super cold, I was extremely cold, that made the race even tougher."
