The US Swimming Association is said to have systematically made it difficult for athletes to report incidents of sexual abuse. Also on suspicion of unfair commercial practices investigate the authorities.

Several US authorities have taken investigations against the US swimming association because this athlete is said to have prevented for years to bring complaints of sexual abuse. The Wall Street Journal reports quoted a source as saying that the system was "designed to dissuade you from wanting to report something."

The system no longer has a stock, because such incidents now have to be reported directly to the police. Olympic associations are also required to pass complaints to competent authorities. In the United States, it is the United States Center for Safe Sport that has been taking care of young victims since its inception in 2017.

According to the report, the prosecutor of Manhattan and the FBI are responsible for the investigation. A spokeswoman for the US swimming federation said it "supports all government investigations that serve the protection of athletes".

The Wall Street Journal also reports allegedly unfair commercial practices of the association. Accordingly, USA Swimming is said to have benefited financially from improper reimbursements of the in-house insurance company. Investigations are to examine whether charitable foundations have been used to camouflage such cash flows.
