World number two Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters with a wrist injury.
Nadal, who has won 19 grand slam titles, said in a statement he had not had enough time to train because of his left wrist infection.
Nadal's withdrawal gives Serbian Novak Djokovic the chance to finish top of this year's rankings.
