2019-10-04T05:44:29.112Z

The world's best athletes visit Germany: Between October 4 and 13, around 600 gymnasts from 80 nations compete against each other in Stuttgart. Everything important for the World Cup can be found here.

The Turning World Cup 2019

For the first time in twelve years, the global turn elite measures again in Germany: For the third time since 1989 and 2007, the Turn World Cup takes place in Stuttgart. All decisions from 4 to 13 October will be held in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. In the Porsche Arena, just a few meters away, the athletes will "train". In a total of 14 events over ten days, the eyes of the audience should be directed primarily to a woman: Simone Biles.

The stars

Simone Biles is the undisputed star of the Turn World Cup. The US-American is already - at the age of 22 years - the most successful World Cup athlete in the long history of her sport. She has won 14 gold medals since her World Cup debut in Antwerp six years ago. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she won four gold alone. The expectations are high. This year, viewers want to see on-site how Biles history writes. For the first time you should succeed in a so-called "Triple Double" at a World Cup. In August, the 1.42-strong athlete had become the first woman in the world the jump.

The German medal hopes

In total, around 600 athletes from 80 nations compete in Stuttgart. From the German point of view, the appearances of Sophie Scheder and Elisabeth Seitz in particular are likely to be associated with hopes. For Seitz it will even be a home game: The 26-year artistic gymnast is active at MTV Stuttgart and is aiming for bronze at the Olympics her first medal at a World Cup. Like Seitz, Scheder is also on the uneven bars to extended favorites.

The men would win a medal after the retirement of old gymnast is active at MTV Stuttgart and is aiming for bronze at the Olympics their first medal at a World Cup. Like Seitz, Scheder is also on the uneven bars to extended favorites. For the men, a medal win after the resignation of Fabian Hambüchen and the injury-related cancellation of Marcel Nguyen (shoulder surgery) would be a surprise (you can find all information about the German World Cup squad here).
