Before the game, FC Barcelona were tied to Sevilla, but the game was more one-sided than expected. In Barcelona, the defending champion of the Primera División won 4-0 (3-0), scored the goals Luis Suárez (27th minute), Arturo Vidal (32), Ousmane Dembélé (35) and Lionel Messi (78)

The most spectacular goal was immediately the first: Nélson Semedo flanked the ball from the left wing into the box, where Suárez placed the ball in the right corner by throwing the ball. Within the next eight minutes, the hosts increased by goals from Vidal and Dembélé to 3: 0, the game was decided.
In the second round Barça was awarded a free kick from 18 meters away and half-right position. Messi stepped up and raised the ball over the wall at right angles. For the record scorer of the Spanish league, it was the first goal of the season.
Shortly before the end of the game Javier "Chicharito" Hernández pushed through Barcelona's defense and was brought down in front of the goal by Ronald Aurajo. In his debut for Barcelona, the 20-year-old saw the red card, after which his teammates complained to the referee. Apparently Dembélé sounded in the tone, because of complaining he saw the yellow card. It was his second warning, so he flew off. The first he got in the 53rd minute, also because of complaining.
