Syria's men's soccer team beat Maldives 2-1 today in a match they played at Rashid Stadium in the United Arab Emirates in the second round of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the Asian 2023 finals for Group A.

China beat Guam earlier in the day with seven goals without reply. The Philippines and Maldives teams came in third and fourth place with three points each. Guam is in fifth place without points.
The chances of scoring for our team continued and the result remained unchanged until the first half ended with a 1-0 lead.

Our team opened their qualifying campaign with a 5-0 win over their Philippine counterparts and will meet Guam next Tuesday in the UAE as well.
The qualifiers comprise eight groups of five, each competing in a two-tier league system, with the first-place finishers in each group and the top four teams qualifying for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 and the next round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Qatar.
