The controversial Nike Oregon Project is apparently over. The US magazine "Runner's World" and the "New York Times" agree with a reference to a memo by Nike CEO Mark Parker.
"The situation with continuing unsubstantiated claims distract many athletes and hamper their ability to focus on training and competition needs," "Runner's World" quotes Nike boss Parker. "So I made the decision to close the Oregon project."
Former head coach and founding father of the NOP, Alberto Salazar, was banned for four years for violating anti-doping rules on 10 October. Also Konstanze Klosterhalfen, at the World Athletics Championships in Doha / Qatar bronze medalist over 5000 meters, belonged to the NOP so far.
