After expressing solidarity with the Turkish military: St. Pauli releases Sahin

Cenk Sahin has been released from FC St. Pauli. The former U-national player of Turkey had previously solidarized himself with the Turkish military mission in northern Syria.

The FC St. Pauli has released the player Cenk Sahin with immediate effect from the game and training operation. With this, the club reacts to utterances of Sahin in the social network Instagram. There, the outside player had recently declared his support for the Turkish military offensive against Kurdish troops in northern Syria. Fans of the club then demanded the immediate dismissal of Sahin.

In a message on the club's website referred the FC St. Pauli position. It is true that one can not judge "differentiated perceptions and attitudes from other cultures in detail", but military actions and solidarity with them are in any case disliked. The contract with Sahin remains valid, and the player has been granted a training and guest permit for other clubs.
