France have missed the qualifying for the European Championship 2020 against Turkey. After the 1: 1 (0: 0) threatens the French football association to new trouble with Bayern Munich. Although the German record champion had announced before the international travel that defender Lucas Hernández can not play because of a knee injury, he was in the European Championship qualifier against Turkey in the starting eleven.
The 23-year-old had traveled against the will of his club to the national team and there examined by the French medical team at the knee. Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had already shown himself "irritated by the behavior of the French federation" before the match against Turkey. Munich team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt said: "Lucas Hernández can not play in the upcoming games of the French national team, therefore, a secondment makes no sense."
Hernández plays through
Bayern had told the French association after the match against TSG Hoffenheim that Hernandez must remain because of his injury in Munich. The French insisted but on the appearance of the defensive player. Last Friday, France coach Didier Deschamps lost to Hernandez against Iceland.
Against Turkey played Hernández on the left defense of the French. Despite a header from Olivier Giroud (76th minute) it was not enough for a win. Kaan Ayhan of Bundesliga club Fortuna Dusseldorf headed in to equalize (82 ').
Both Turkey and France now have 19 points. The direct comparison, however, Turkey has won by the 2-0 victory in the first leg. Iceland can still catch France third, four points behind in two games left. However Iceland would have to win both games and lose France against Moldova and Albania.
