Bulgarian football association threatens, among other things, a heavy fine after the racist failures of some Bulgarian fans against England. The English Association must also answer.

Following the racist incidents in the European Championship qualifier between Bulgaria and England, the European Football Association (Uefa) has initiated disciplinary proceedings. That informed the Uefa on Tuesday. Previously, the English Association (FA) had called for consequences.

The Bulgarians are accused of racist behavior and the throwing of objects, as well as the disturbing of the national anthem. The Bulgarian Federation BFU must also explain why, contrary to the safety regulations, repetitions were shown on a screen. In the afternoon, Boris Mikhaylov resigned from his post as Bulgarian association president following strong public pressure.

The FA is also held to account, also because of the disturbing of the national anthem. In addition, the association is accused that not enough folders had traveled.

In the 0-0 defeat of the Bulgarians against England Heimfans had begun racist cries. There were monkey sounds to hear, in the audience Hitler greetings were to be seen. In the 28th and 43rd minute, the match was about to break, but the visitors decided to continue the game.

According to the Uefa Disciplinary Regulations, the Bulgarians are now threatened with a game without spectators and a fine of 50,000 euros. The penalty could be even higher, as Bulgarian supporters had already caused racist incidents in the first leg on 10 June in Prague, which is why in the European Championship qualifier against the Czech Republic on November 17, 3000 seats must remain empty.
