Eintracht Frankfurt has overtaken Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga table in a direct duel. The hosts won 3: 0 (2: 0), two goals were scored by Gonçalo Paciência (4 th and 16 th minute) and one bas dost (80 th).
With 14 points, the two teams tied, in the table are the Frankfurt, temporarily in seventh place, but one place over Leverkusen, because they have the better goal difference.
The game started early as Danny da Costa played a superb straight pass in Paciência's right-back. The Portuguese ran free on the Leverkusen goal and pushed the ball past Lukáš Hrádecký. The equalizer almost fell directly when Kai Havertz was served in a run down to the depths of Lucas Alario. His shot was blocked by Martin Hinteregger (5th).
Instead Paciência increased about ten minutes later to 2: 0. From half-way position, the striker fired on the goal, Aleksandar Dragovic straddling and blocking the ball with his hand. Rightly there was a penalty for the harmony Paciência transformed.
Hrádecký prevents the goal
In the second half, Leverkusen came to scoring chances, the biggest after a cross from Kevin Volland, whereupon Lucas Alario came from five meters to the header. Hrádecký showed a strong foot parade, Julian Baumgartlingers margin was blocked (66.). The shot from substitute Karim Bellarabis also saw Slovakia (69), as in Havertz's attempt (76).
A hand penalty for Leverkusen in the 71th minute took referee Christian Dingert in the view of slow motion back. The ball had hit Gelson Fernandes not on the hand, but on the face. After a pass from Filip Kostic Dost still scored the third goal for the hosts.
