Football international Niklas Süle threatens a long injury break. The defender was injured in the 2: 2 (1: 1) of his Bayern on Saturday in Augsburg hard on the knee. "What I have already heard is that the cruciate ligament is damaged," reported Munich coach Niko Kovac. "Now we have to see to what extent other areas in the knee have been affected." A cruciate ligament tear generally causes a downtime of at least half a year.

Süle had the injury in a duel with Augsburg Florian Niederlechner, but without direct influence of his opponent. After a break in treatment, the defender limped from the field, later he was walking on crutches in the Augsburg stadium to see. Süle had David Alaba in the 12th minute.

It would not be the first serious knee injury in Süle's career: Already between December 2014 and July 2015, the 24-year-old, then still in the service of TSG Hoffenheim, had to pause with a cruciate ligament tear. The national team, in which Süle is also a regular player, would have to give up the defender with similar downtime probably until shortly before the start of the European Football Championship 2020.
