Switzerland's Belinda Pencic was crowned the Kremlin champion with a 3-6 6-1 6-1 victory over Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the final.
The Russian website said today that "the Swiss player managed to reverse the delay of a group to win thanks to snatching 12 of the last 14 runs."
Pencic, the world number 10 in Moscow, won her second trophy this year after the Dubai tournament, winning her fourth title in her professional career, while 40th-ranked Pavlyuchenkova failed to win her second tournament in her career after 2014.
On Wednesday, Pencic snatched the final qualifying card for the eight-man Masters Final, which will be held in Shenzhen from April 27 to March 3.
