Third-seeded Greek Stefanos Titipas defeated Serbian Philip Krajenovic 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals of the Basel indoor tournament.
According to Reuters, Titipas hit 12 serve in a match in which the two players wasted their serve three times, but the 21-year-old Greek was more effective in his second serve.
Titipas reached the semi-finals to meet world number one Roger Federer, whose opponent and compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka withdrew ahead of their quarter-final with a back injury.
