Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has conquered the pole position for the Grand Prix of Mexico, world champion Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes fights from fourth place for the early title win. The Dutchman Verstappen, who had won the last two Mexico races, prevailed in qualifying in front of the Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel.
Hamilton is in front of the fourth last race on Sunday (20.10 Central European Time RTL and Sky, Liveticker SPIEGEL)) 64 championship points in front of his only remaining championship contender Valtteri Bottas in the second Mercedes.
To clinch Sunday's crown, Hamilton will have to score 14 more points than the Finn, who is only sixth on the grid and has made a fatal accident in the closing stages of qualifying.
