Bundesliga: Bayer presses and presses

2019-10-26T18:43:42.030Z

10: 1 Corner kicks, 24:12 Shot on goal - in the end, it was not enough for Leverkusen: Against Bremen Bayer did not go beyond a draw. Both teams quarreled with the referee.

In spite of a superior lead Bayer Leverkusen's match in the Bundesliga's evening game was only enough for a 2-1 (1-1) win against Werder Bremen. The team of coach Peter Bosz stagnated therefore in the table and remains on eighth place - but only three points behind leaders Bayern Munich. Werder Bremen is twelfth.

The match was less than five minutes old, when the hosts were leading 1-0 - a goal in which Werder made involuntary assistance. After a corner, the ball went in Tormitte, where the just recovered after injury recovering Ömer Toprak wanted to fend off. Instead, the ball hit his shin and from there into his own goal.

Bayer dominated without the sick missing Kai Havertz the initial phase, came to several good chances, which left the Bosz-Elf unused. Werder caught himself after 20 minutes and now tried to be offensive himself. The game was more balanced - and after 40 minutes that also expressed in the score. The agile Milot Rashica tried a long-range shot from 20 yards and had luck: The ball was deflected by substitute Aleksandar Dragovic and lowered untenable for Bayer goalkeeper Hradecky to 1: 1 in goal.

After the change, it was the Bremen players who were back in the game very quickly. And this time they also hit the right goal. Davy Klaassen took on a nice lead by Leonardo Bittencourt and Josh Sargent and shuffled the ball from the edge of the box into the corner. The fact that the Leverkusen left him too much space made it easy for him.

Bayer was impressed only briefly and struck back nine minutes later. Karim Bellarabi crossed the right-hand side and hit the ball flat into the area, where forward colleague Lucas Alario converted the 2-2 draw into the short corner. Just one minute later Dragovic had the lead on the head for 04, but he hesitated, that would have to be 3-2.

A quarter of an hour before the end of the Leverkusen cheered again. The goal of Alario, however, was again confused, because the video referee had previously wanted to see a hand-held game by Bayern striker Amiri. Bayer pressed until the final whistle, Werder found hardly any relief - but the draw remained until the end - also because the referee did not whistle a handball by Leverkusen's Amiri in injury time in his own penalty area.
