The title race in Formula 1 has not yet been decided at the Grand Prix of Mexico. Lewis Hamilton won ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc on the high-altitude course in Mexico City. Despite his victory, the big favorite Hamilton has not yet won the World Cup on Sunday - because his only remaining competitor Valtteri Bottas too good section.
At the start, the Ferrari still demonstrated their current dominance. Leclerc and Vettel defended their top places from qualifying. Behind him, Hamilton and Max Verstappen fought a thrilling duel. Both cars touched each other, Hamilton was able to fend off the attack of the Dutchman.
For Verstappen had his driving early consequences: A puncture forced him to the pits, he lost a lot of time on the way there and had to resume the race from last place.
On the demanding course in Mexico City, especially due to the climatic conditions, Vettel and Leclerc initially drove their race unimpressed. In the tire changes, however, they lost their top position. Mercedes had in his meantime with his tire strategy, only once during the race to go to the pits, the Ferrari in distress.
In contrast, Ferrari had planned with a two-stop strategy, Vettel delayed his first tire change as far as possible - only in the 36th of the 71 laps he went to the pits, and Hamilton temporarily took the lead. As Vettel's team-mate also made a slow pit stop, the defending champion in the Mercedes was suddenly in the lead.
The longer the race lasted, the closer the top field got together. Hamilton, Vettel, Bottas and Leclerc were close to each other, but there were not real duels. All four drove to the finish in their known order at the top.
