Barcelona beat Valladolid 1-5 in the Primera Liga

LONDON (Reuters) - Barcelona captain Lionel Messi scored two goals and set up two goals to help Barcelona win 1-5 against Valladolid and advance to the top of the Primera Liga on Saturday.

Coach Ernesto Valverde's side were easily victorious at the Camp Nou stadium, which was supposed to host the summit against Real Madrid on Saturday before postponing the encounter to December.

Messi sent a spectacular pass to Arturo Vidal to give the hosts a 2-1 lead after Keiko Olivas equalized for Valladolid to nullify Barcelona's early lead by Clement Linglet.

Messi fired a superb free kick into the net and added another before setting up a new goal for Luis Suarez to ensure Barcelona's victory and 22 points from 10 games.

Barca took the lead after just two minutes, sending the ball back to Linglete inside the area, firing a powerful shot into the net.

Olivas leveled 15 minutes later after an Andre Ter Stegen free-kick but Messi helped Barcelona regain control with a stunning pass to Vidal before the Argentine scored his fourth goal in four games in all competitions and the 100th goal under Valverde.

The number 10 sent a magic pass to Anso Fati after the break, but former Barcelona goalkeeper Jordi Masip saved the opportunity from the 16-year-old.

Suarez scored a goal canceled by offside before Messi scored another in the 75th minute when he fired a powerful shot past goalkeeper Masip.

Messi then nicely passed back to Suarez to put the Uruguayan striker in the net.
