For Neymar return: Barcelona stars wanted to forego for the time being for salary

To retrieve Superstar Neymar, the pros of FC Barcelona have offered, according to Gerard Piqué, salaries paid later - so as to avoid problems with the Financial Fair Play.

The players of FC Barcelona have not only made public confessions in the summer for a return action of the Brazilian superstar Neymar. The team was also prepared, according to defender Gerard Piqué, to adjust their contracts and accept payroll delays in order to increase the club's financial flexibility and avoid problems with Uefa's financial fair play.

"We told Bartomeu (club president Josep Maria, editor) if it was necessary to delay payments in our contracts, to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations and get Neymar, then we would do it," said Piqué the Spanish radio station "Cadena Ser". "We did not want to contribute money, but we wanted to make it easier by allowing some payments to be made in the second or third year rather than the first year."

Barcelona spent most of the recent transfer period trying to get Paris-Saint-Germain back for Neymar, who played for the Spanish club from 2013 to 2017. However, the clubs could not agree. The Catalans, who had already spent 120 million euros for Antoine Griezmann and 75 million euros for Frenkie de Jong, were also restricted by the Financial Fair Play. Uefa's financial rules essentially demand that club spending should not exceed their revenues.
