Title holder against world ranking first - this is the final of the WTA season finale. While Jelena Switolina benefited from the task of her opponent in the semifinals, Ashleigh Barty had to go over three sets.

Jelena Switolina and Ashleigh Barty contest the finals at the WTA season finale in Shenzhen, China. Defending champion Switolina scored the first set in the tournament in the semi-final against Belinda Bencic. In the third set, however, the Swiss Bencic broke the game at 7: 5, 3: 6, 1: 4 due to convulsions.

Barty prevailed in the second semi-final against Karolina Pliskova 4: 6, 6: 2, 6: 3. The second seeded Czech put pressure on the Australian early on, taking the serve from Barty at the score of 4: 4 and then the first set.

The World Ranking First fought back, equalized with two breaks to sets and turned their third match point to qualify for the first time for the final of the annual final tournament of the best eight tennis players. (Read more about the French Open winner: Early Cricket, today champion)

Switolina has the chance in the final to be the first player since the US-American Serena Williams (2012, 2013, 2014) to repeat their win of the previous year. "It's the last tournament of the season and tomorrow is finally the last game of the season," said the Ukrainian. "It will be tough, but I will give everything to lift the trophy up again."
