Jelena Switolina and Ashleigh Barty contest the finals at the WTA season finale in Shenzhen, China. Defending champion Switolina scored the first set in the tournament in the semi-final against Belinda Bencic. In the third set, however, the Swiss Bencic broke the game at 7: 5, 3: 6, 1: 4 due to convulsions.
Barty prevailed in the second semi-final against Karolina Pliskova 4: 6, 6: 2, 6: 3. The second seeded Czech put pressure on the Australian early on, taking the serve from Barty at the score of 4: 4 and then the first set.

"It's the last tournament of the season and tomorrow is finally the last game of the season," said the Ukrainian. "It will be tough, but I will give everything to lift the trophy up again."
