Tottenham Hotspur was successful in protesting Son Heung-Min's dismissal in the Everton game (1-1). The Korean is therefore not locked.
Son was involved in the frightening scene of last matchday in the Premier League. The Spurs striker fouled his opponent André Gomes, who then crashed into Tottenham defender Serge Aurier, injuring his right ankle. Gomes was operated on Monday, on Tuesday he was able to leave the hospital.
Son had been warned at first, but the video referee intervened - obviously under the impression of the TV pictures of the serious injury of the Portuguese. Referee Martin Atkinson then revised his first decision and showed Son Red. He had left in tears and was also long after the final whistle "devastated," said teammate Dele Alli.
Tottenham had subsequently protested. "The VAR has to judge Sons tackling and the scene and not what happened after that," said team manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Son also traveled with his team to the Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade (Wednesday, 21 clock, live ticker SPIEGEL ONLINE) as striker Harry Kane, who had missed the Everton game due to illness.
