The Australian boxer Dwight Ritchie is dead. This confirmed his promoter Jake Ellis. The 27-year-old collapsed in sparring in Melbourne in the ring and could not be reanimated.
Ritchie, one of the country's greatest talents, last fought in August in Sydney against Tim Tszyu, son of former World Champion Kostya Tszyu, for the Australian IBF super welterweight title. Ritchie lost unanimously on points, but should return to the ring against Tommy Browne next month.
Only in October, the American professional boxer Patrick Day succumbed to his head injuries after a knockout loss. In July, Argentine Hugo Santillan and Russian Maxim Dadaschew also died after being injured in the boxing ring.
