The SV Wehen Wiesbaden sees itself as a possible success in the 2nd Bundesliga brought and puts the German Football Association (DFB) protest against the classification of the 0-1 defeat at Dynamo Dresden. This confirmed a spokesman for the second division riser and the DFB. Wehen had lost the match on Friday after a strike by Sweden's Alexander Jeremejeff (41st minute) - and also because of a curious video evidence.

In the 26th minute, the Wiesbaden had cheered for a supposed goal by Manuel Schäffler and referee Martin Petersen had initially recognized the hit. But then the video assistant Florian Heft intervened and Petersen pointed out that the ball was flanked ten seconds earlier on the other side of Jeremejeff out of the gate and the game should therefore have been interrupted. Petersen followed this view, took the gate back and decided on kick for labor.

Wiesbaden justified the objection with the fact that the return of the gate by the VAR intervention had been made contrary to the rules. This decision was likely to influence the outcome of the game - which in turn will be difficult to prove. The SVWW has according to DFB still time to execute his objection in detail. The competent DFB Sports Court will then decide in due course on the further progress of the procedure, said the association.

When does an attack phase start?

Crucial to the argument of the second division is likely that the VAR, according to rules of the International Football Association Board (IFAB) only intervene if the ball was in an offensive phase in the off. In this case, Dynamo was in an attack situation, however, conquered labor immediately after Jeremejeffs cross-ball the ball - and played in a very short time before the Dresdner gate, where Schäffler successfully completed.

For Wehen coach Rüdiger Rehm football is "unnecessarily destroyed"

Even if the DFB should follow the Wiesbaden argument - an attack begins at the earliest with the conquest of the ball - the protest should have little chance of success. According to the IFAB protocol, a game outcome can not be invalidated if the VAR made a wrong decision "because the VAR is a game official". Ultimately, the protection of the factual decision also applies to video assistants.

For Wiesbaden coach Rüdiger Rehm that is irrelevant. "A football game is destroyed completely unnecessary," said Rehm after the game. "We have really good referees, but they are ruined by the fact that they intervene again and again from somewhere something is seen what 25,000 have not seen in the stadium."

Labor is after the defeat in Dresden with ten points on the last place in the table of the Second Division. For Dynamo it was an important victory, with twelve points the traditional club is placed in the table directly in front of Wiesbaden.
