The second edition of the European Championships will take place in the summer of 2022 in Munich. From August 11 to 21, 2022, more than 4,000 athletes are expected. In the sports athletics, cycling, golf, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon, they fight for more than 150 European Championship medals. Another discipline should complement the program. It is the largest sporting event since 1972 Olympia, which takes place in Munich.

Most of the competitions in Munich will be held in the Olympic Park - 50 years after the summer games in the Bavarian state capital. They row on the regatta course in Oberschleißheim, this is to be renovated. The city of Munich had approved the application in June. The public broadcasters ARD and ZDF will report on the competitions.
"The decision for Munich is a great success for the German sport," said Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer: "We have thus once again the opportunity to present Germany as a sport-loving and hospitable country."
The costs for the alignment are, according to the organizers, 100 million euros. The financing is provided by Munich, the Free State of Bavaria and the Federal Government. Munich had recently wanted to apply for the 2018 Winter Olympics. However, the project had failed in a referendum: "Nix with Olympia dahoam."
