He was traded as a Bayern coach, now Arsène Wenger has indeed found a new job. Only not as a coach, but as a "director of global football promotion" at the World Association.

Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger becomes "Global Football Promotion Director" at Fifa World Federation. The 70-year-old Frenchman announced this one week after the confusion over a telephone conversation with FC Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Wenger, who was traded as the new coach of the German record champion, is looking forward "to this very important task, because I like to analyze football from a superordinate point of view," he said. Wenger, who recently worked as a television expert, believes in "Fifa (...) has a global mission". FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised him as one of the "most prestigious personalities in football".

Call with Rummenigge

Last week there was a phone call between Rummenigge and Wenger, after the Bayern had separated from coach Niko Kovac. It is confirmed that this was a commitment in Munich. Both subsequently distributed different versions, who asked whom and who canceled whom.

"I have no interest in having stress with him," Rummenigge had said after contradictory media reports and announced a clarifying conversation. "Maybe we misunderstood somehow," said the Bayern boss. Wenger had previously emphasized that he had not offered himself in Munich, but he had been called by Rummenigge. "He asked me if I was interested in looking for a coach," Wenger said in an interview with Being-Sports.
