Roger Federer defeated Serbian Novak Djokovic 2-0 to end the Serb's early participation in the final of the men's tennis season and shatter his hopes of finishing the year at the top of the world rankings.
In the 49th meeting between the two rivals, Federer pleasured the crowd, ending five straight defeats against Djokovic and taking revenge for his painful loss in the Wimbledon final, winning 6-4, 6-3.
Djokovic's defeat means Spaniard Rafael Nadal will end the year at the top of the rankings for the fifth time in his career.
