"I'm thrilled to be back in Macao," said Formula 3 driver Sophia Flörsch before returning to her serious accident. Exactly one year ago, Flörsch was seriously injured in Macau, suffered a fractured cervical vertebrae - and wanted to be back at the next race in Macao. She succeeded.
However, the race did not end her. After seven of the 15 laps, the 18-year-old had to park her car due to technical problems. After her premature departure in one of the last places, she watched behind the guardrail as her car was towed. Flörsch had gone from rank 21 to Formula 3 after the mixed qualification.

The pilot had just signed a contract with the HWA team at short notice, her car knew her from the first rounds in Macao only from the simulator. Nevertheless, Flörsch was looking forward to her comeback: "The fact that it already works this year shows that you can also achieve dreams if you believe in yourself and work hard for it."
Rookie Richard Verschoor won the race ahead of Jüri Vips of Estonia, who started from pole position. David Beckmann finished ninth as best German, Andreas Estner (20th) and Michael Schumacher's nephew David (21st) landed far behind. The Austrian Ferdinand von Habsburg had a crash in the guardrail in the twelfth round, but could leave his own car.
