European Championship qualification: Wijnaldum with hat


In addition to the DFB selection, the Netherlands were already certainly qualified for the European Championship. But a 5-0 victory against Estonia was not enough for the group victory. Wales overtook Hungary on the final day.

The Netherlands have clinched a victory over Estonia in the European Championship qualifier in the distance duel with Germany for first place in Group C in the end. Because Germany also scored three points in the parallel game, nothing changed in the constellation and Oranje is in second place in the group draw for the European Championship.

From the beginning, the team of coach Ronald Koeman took control of the game. In the 6th minute Georginio Wijnaldum headed the ball from five meters into the right corner. It should not remain his last goal of the evening: In the 66th and 78th minute, he let two more goals follow. Overall, the Liverpool professional scored eight goals in seventh qualifying matches.

Other goals for Oranje were Nathan Aké (19) and substitute Myron Boadu (87).

Already in the first leg at the beginning of September the Netherlands won 4: 0 in Tallinn. Estonia has no chance to qualify for the European Championships as a table-last (one point) - not even over the Nations League.

Wales - Hungary 2: 0 (1: 0)

The Welsh have won the duel for the last direct European championship in group E against Hungary. Thanks to the results of Juventus professional Aaron Ramsey (15./47.), The semi-finalist of 2016 qualified for the European Championship.

Before the last matchday, the Welsh were still in third place behind Hungary.
