Diego Maradona returns to La Plata as coach

Diego Maradona is no longer coach of Gimnasia La Plata. This was confirmed by the association of the French news agency AFP. The 59-year-old had taken over the post at the Argentine first division from the capital Buenos Aires just over two months ago.

La Plata was at the time on the last place in the table. After a season opener with five winless games took over Maradona and could celebrate with his team in eight games after all three wins. This improved the club by two places.

Allegedly, the involvement of the Argentine football legend was linked to the presidency of Gabriel Pellegrino. However, he will not stand for election on Saturday.
