Hannes Wolf is the new coach of the Belgian club KRC Genk. On Saturday it comes to its first game to the clash with another former HSV coach.

After his stops in Stuttgart and Hamburg, Hannes Wolf took over the post of Head Coach at KRC Genk. This was announced by the club. The 38-year-old succeeds Felice Mazzu, who was laid off last week.

The season has been disappointing for the reigning Belgian champions so far. The team is currently in eighth place in the league. In the Champions League Group E Genk is with only one point out of four games Last behind defending champion Liverpool FC, SSC Naples and Red Bull Salzburg.

In the premier class, the team can only hope for third place in the group, which would mean at least a continuation of the European Cup season in the Europa League. On Wednesday of next week (21 clock, live ticker SPIEGEL, TV: Sky / Stream: Dazn) Genk receives the direct competitor Salzburg and could catch up with a victory in Wolfs first home game on points.

Premiere against Hollerbach

His former premiere in the service of the club celebrates the former Dortmund youth coach but already on Saturday. Wolf meets Royal Excel Mouscron with his new club. The team has been coached by Bernd Hollerbach since the start of the season and is in ninth place with Genk on points.

Both coaches connect a past at Hamburger SV: Hollerbach coached the club in his relegation season 2017/2018 for seven games, Wolf missed in the following season, the resurgence and had to go to the end of the season. For both, the job in the Belgian league is the first station after the Aus in Hamburg.
