Already the first single against group opponents Chile was the decisive factor: The German team is in the new Davis Cup format in Madrid in the top eight. The next opponent also seems beatable.

The German Davis Cup team is in the quarter-finals at the first-ever final tournament in Madrid. Philipp Kohlschreiber beat Chilean Nicolas Jarry 6: 4, 6: 3 on Thursday and secured the selection of the German Tennis Association (DTB) in the first match of the day the required point for the knockout round.

As the winner of Group C Germany meets in the quarterfinals on Friday to Britain to superstar Andy Murray or Kazakhstan. On Wednesday, the team of captain Michael Kohlmann Argentina had defeated surprisingly clear 3-0.

Jan-Lennard Struff will face Cristian Garin in the second single of the day, with French Doubles winner Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies beating Garin and Jarry for the final doubles.
