The best skiers have already come in distances of over 250 meters. Ex-star Sven Hannawald believes, however, that the development is far from over.

Former ski jumping star Sven Hannawald believes that in ski flying the sound barrier of 300 meters can be broken. "It's not possible with the current hills, it will continue to move forward, but in small steps that you can monitor," Hannawald said, "but I think the 300 meters will be skipped at some point."

At the moment, the highest score of the Austrian Stefan Kraft has been at 253.5 meters since 18 March 2017, scored on the Monsterbakken in Vikersund, Norway. For a sentence on the dream brand 300, the conditions would have to be created, said Hannawald, who accompanies the beginning of the weekend in Wisla, Wisla ski jumping season again as a TV expert.

If he still experiences the cracking of this barrier, "I'm not sure," says former tour winner Hannawald, "if someone takes the money in hand and builds a much larger hill, which is safe and guarantees a corresponding altitude , then nothing stands in the way ".

In Wisla the DSV starts with its new head coach Stefan Horngacher into the season. The hopes rest on Markus Eisenbichler and Stephan Leyhe, besides, Richard Freitag and Karl Geiger start at the start. There are missing Andreas Wellinger, Severin Freund and David Siegel, who missed the season opener after their cruciate ligament tears.
