Football Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and sporting goods manufacturer Puma have agreed on a new, long-term equipment contract. The contract was extended until 2028, the club said. The deal brings the media according to Dortmundern about 30 million euros per year, a total of 250 million euros by 2028. Earlier, had already reported the "kicker" and the "Ruhr news" about the agreement.
For BVB that would mean significantly higher revenue than before. The old equipment contract should have brought the club around ten million euros per season. Dortmund did not want to comment on the speculated numbers.
The equipment contract is likely to be the second most lucrative in the Bundesliga. In 2015, Bayern Munich had extended its contract with Adidas until 2030, allegedly the club should cash in for 900 million euros. That would be equivalent to 60 million euros per season, twice as much as at BVB.
Borussia and the company have been working together since 2012, and Puma now holds five percent of the club's shares. The original contract was still valid until 2022.
