MUSCAT, (SANA) - Syrian expatriate Imad Barakat won the silver medal in the Oman Desert Race

The Syrian runner Emad Barakat achieved the second place and the silver medal in the Oman desert race held in the Sultanate of Oman with the participation of elite world champions.

Barakat was born in Damascus in 1963 and moved in 1999 to live in Slovakia.

It is noteworthy that Barakat has achieved many achievements, most notably the title of the World Championship in the Moroccan desert race in 2013 for 250 km and second place in the world championship in the Omani desert race for 165 km four times in a row, fourth place in the International Marathon of Austria for a distance of 75 km and third place for seven years in Marathons in Slovakia and other European countries.
