Swiss football mourns Jakob "Köbi" Kuhn. The former national player and coach died at the age of 76 years. This was reported by the news agency SDA, which referred to the hospital Zollikerberg Zurich, which confirmed the message at the request of relatives.
Kuhn succumbed to a long, serious illness in the hospital. Already in 2011, Kuhn had been diagnosed with senile leukemia, most recently suffering from lung problems. The Swiss newspaper "Blick" calls Kuhn the "most famous Swiss footballer of all time".
Kuhn was responsible for the national team of Switzerland from 2001 to 2008. He oversaw the "Nati" in three tournaments, at the 2006 World Cup he led them to the second round. After the European Championship 2008 in his own country and in Austria he was replaced by Ottmar Hitzfeld. As an active Kuhn was with FC Zurich, for which he was active from 1960 to 1977, six times Swiss champion. He played for Switzerland 63 times, including at the 1966 World Cup.
