On his return to the World Cup, Thomas Dreßen surprisingly won the descent in Lake Louise, Canada. Just over a year after his severe knee injury in a fall at Beaver Creek, Dreßen drove for his third downhill win in the World Cup. This has never been achieved by any German skier.
"It would not have worked that way, it's crazy," Dreßen told ORF. Thinness prevailed in front of the Italian Super-G World Champion Dominik Paris (+ 0.02 seconds). Third were at the same time the Swiss Carlo Janka and Beat Feuz (+ 0.26).
At the finish, Dreßen threw up his arms and screamed out his joy. When he came to a halt, he shouted "Biggi, thank you!" into the television camera - a greeting to his girlfriend, who had always supported him on the arduous way back.
