A reporter accused the Sacramento Kings coach Luke Walton of sexually abusing her. After a NBA investigation, the woman has now withdrawn the lawsuit.

NBA head coach Luke Walton does not have to answer for allegedly sexual assault in court. The reporter who accused him withdrew the charges against the Sacramento Kings coach. The reports include the Los Angeles Times regarding a statement by Walton's lawyer.

Walton commented in a club statement on the termination of the case. "I remain one hundred percent focused on the coaching of the Kings and will not make another comment," he is quoted.

After the woman made the allegations public, the NBA and Kings ordered their own investigations. In August, they said that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations. The woman refused to participate in the investigations. This was followed by the termination of the procedure.

Allegations rejected

The allegations against Walton had become known in April, only a short time after his employment with the Kings. As the portal "TMZ" reported, he is said to have kissed the journalist in a hotel room against her will and detained, before he let her go. The date of the incident was initially left open, Walton should have been but assistant coach of the Golden State Warriors at the time, where he was employed from 2014 to 2016.

After serving in the Golden State Warriors, Walton spent three years as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers before enrolling in Sacramento. The woman had made the accusations public until late because she was afraid that they could harm her career. She had Walton as a mentor, he wrote the foreword in one of her books. Walton had always rejected the allegations about his lawyer.
